"Through his continuing experience with the best cycling teams in the world, Patrick can share the practices and demeanor of top-tier athletes with our Durata clients ... "
Patrick McCarty has raced bicycles at the highest level in Europe and the U.S. for nearly a decade. During six years as a professional cyclist, Patrick raced for many of the world’s best teams, including USPS, Discovery Channel, Phonak, Garmin-Chipotle, and most recently OUCH/Maxxis. Prior to turning pro Patrick spent three years racing as an amateur on the Under-23 National Team.
Patrick’s role has been mostly that of a hard working domestique but he enjoys the occasional podium appearance as well. His career highlights include victories in the amateur races Ronde L’Issard and Le Transalsace, competing on numerous world championship teams, racing in grand tours and in 2008 contributing to a victory in the team time trial at the Giro di Italia.
As part of Durata Training, Patrick organizes various camps and educational clinics, as well as other social functions for our endurance athletes. Through his continuing experience with the best cycling teams in the world, Patrick can share the practices and demeanor of top-tier athletes with our Durata clients and at our annual Colorado Training Camp this summer.
Patrick also plays an integral role in how Durata athletes communicate with each other and with their coaches. He will be the face of communication for the Edge level of service and available for any Durata athlete wanting to know how a professional athlete would approach various competitions.
Patrick’s goals in cycling include competing in all three grand tours, being a part of the US Olympic team, winning a stage in the Tour de France and, of course, having as much fun as possible. When off the bike Patrick likes to catch up on politics, feast on Texas BBQ and immerse himself in Austin’s live music scene.
