The two national races in New York and Vermont went on with huge success.  My legs felt very strong and I was able to really push it throughout both races.

The first race was Vermont nationals.  This race was much different than any of the courses in Texas.  I was able to perform very well killing it on the hills and on the long downhills.  I got out-sprinted right at the end for 4th and we were not far from first and second.  All of us top 4 were duking it out and contending for World’s. Leading up to the race, I was very focused on my training, making sure to do exactly as I was told, and be very structured.  I could tell it all payed off because I could feel my speed and strength increasing by miles.

The second and even better race was Windham Mountain nationals.  World contenders like the Canadian team and a New Zealander came out for this race.  I was second 2 minutes behind a Canadian, beat the New Zealander and the rest of the Canadian team, and was the best ranked American by around 6 minutes.  Everything came together even better in this race!  I got a great start and was in the lead for half of the first lap.  The day and weeks leading up to this race I stretched, drank, and trained religiously.  My times compared with other groups were even faster than at Vermont. It’s amazing how much you can improve in one week!

From my structured interval workouts I just continually gained speed throughout the whole season.  David knew exactly what to do and from the start we timed the training down to a science.  As shown from my results it greatly payed off.
