Durata Training Athlete Bob Cowley is looking to secure an entry in the Rise Across Texas Challenge, a charity ride that will cross the state from the eastern border to the west. To support Bob and his fundraising efforts, click here. From March 6-20, 2010, 50 cyclists will cover 800 Texas miles, starting in Orange and finishing in Presidio. Bob hopes to be one of the riders to make it the whole way across the state.
The Rise Across Texas Challenge will push its riders to extremes for a cause that’s worth the sore muscles: to raise money for the Rise Schools of Texas. The non-for-profit Rise Schools provide the highest quality early childhood education services to children with and without special needs.
Bob’s place isn’t guaranteed, though. He committed to raise a minimum of $1,000. For every $1,000 raised, Bob will get one chance in a drawing to win one of the 50 cyclist positions, valued at $100,000. Every thousand Bob raises increases his chances of securing a place. The drawing for the trans-Texas ride will be held November 16, 2009 so he doesn’t have a lot of time to generate at least $1000 in donations.
Please support of Bob’s fundraising effort by making a donation to the Rise Across Texas Challenge on his behalf. Every dollar counts and will mean so much toward reaching his goal.
